It all began in 1972 with Mr. Carlton Stafford and a small "hole in the wall" pizza shop by the name of Pizza Palace located on Highway 31 North in Cullman, Alabama. They began serving spaghetti, lasagna, sandwiches and a thin crust, heavily topped pizza which would later became Carlton's signature pizza.
In 1990 the now known Carlton's was established by Mr. Strafford and his son-in-law, Butch Stringer, and was located across from the Wachovia Bank in downtown Cullman. Shortly after it's opening Craig Hughey joined Butch as co-owners of Carlton's Italian. In 1996 they relocated to the Midtown Center behind the Honda shop in Cullman. In 1997 Wes Warren took co-ownership with Craig Hughey and they remained partners until 2007. When Mr. Hughey became sole owner he relocated the restaurant to its current location in the old landmark building which has housed several occupants, one being Dr. Stewart Veterinary. In 2009 Dr. Harry Blaylock and his wife, Leslie, took ownership and currently own and operate the business.
Dr. Blaylock, a retired veterinarian, has long wanted to own a restaurant and he and Leslie have worked hard to create a pleasant atmosphere and menu that caters to the regular long-termed patrons as well as brings in new ones. Harry and Leslie thank you for your support and patronage and look forward to serving you in the future.
